About the Speaker

Gillian Ng from Class 2002 (HKCEE) and 2004 (HKALE)
MSc Applied Geosciences (HKU), BSc Earth Sciences (HKU)

Gillian studied at SPCS from Form 1 to Form 7 as a science student. After graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor degree in Earth Sciences in 2007, she started working as a Geologist in engineering companies in Hong Kong and started studying for a part-time Master degree in Applied Geosciences at HKU since 2008.

In 2009, Gillian was determined in chasing her dream and joined the aviation industry by working as an Air Traffic Flight Services Officer at the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department. Apart from working, Gillian also studied various aviation programmes in order to equip herself to achieve her ultimate goal.

Gillian won the flying scholarship given by the Hong Kong Youth Aviation Academy in 2015. She quitted her job at the HKCAD, became a full-time student pilot in the United Kingdom and obtained her Private Pilot Licence in December 2015.

Gillian was admitted by an airline and was being sent to Adelaide, Australia for flight training. After coming back to Hong Kong in December 2019, Gillian was allocated to the Boeing 777 fleet as a Second Officer. Covid was hitting Hong Kong shortly after that and all flight trainings were halted. While waiting for reactivation, Gillian decided to give back to HKYAA and joined as an instructor in teaching aviation theories and simulator sessions.
